Nor-Am Cold Storage is a family owned cold storage facility that is based out of Le Mars, Iowa. They currently have 5 facilities, with one Kansas location in Elwood, KS. Their Dodge City facility will be a $35 Million investment in our community. The 148,000 sf facility will employ up to 90 employees in the first 3 years of operation.

Sutherlands Opens in Dodge City STAR Bond District

Sutherlands had their official Grand Opening in Dodge City on Sunday, October 12th, 2019 at their new location at 1510 Soule St. in the Star Bond Power District. Construction of the 75,000 sf building with an additional 35,000 sf garden center began in mid 2018. Sutherlands is a complete home improvement and hardware store.

The Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR), part of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University, recently released population projections by age cohort from 2014 to 2064 for every Kansas county. In these projections, the overall Kansas population is forecast to grow from 2,904,321 to 3,538,277, a 21.8 percent increase.

Kansas’ population will increase in the next 50 years, but the growth will mostly come from older people who live in cities, according to projections released Wednesday by Wichita State University. If the projections hold true – a big if, given the 50-year-horizon – policymakers and local leaders will have to figure out how to pay for a retirement-age population that will double in size.
