Policom Corporation has just released a 2014 Economic Strength Ranking for the Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas in the U.S.
According to the Policom report, Metropolitan Statistical Areas have at least one urbanized area with a population of at least 50,000, plus adjacent territory (counties) which have a high degree of social and economic integration with the core as measured by commuting. A Micropolitan Statistical Area must have an urbanized area (city) with a population of at least 10,000 but fewer than 50,000.
Out of 536 Micropolitan areas, Dodge City is ranked 21st in the Nation. That also makes Dodge City the highest ranked Micropolitan city in the State of Kansas.
