Opportunity for Childcare Providers – Our Earliest Eaters Program
The Childcare Coalition of Dodge City is excited to share a new opportunity through the Kansas Department of Agriculture called the Our Earliest Eaters Program, and we’ve made it incredibly simple for you to participate.
This program helps introduce children to healthy foods and where their food comes from through fun, hands-on activities featuring Kansas-grown fruits and vegetables.
Here’s the best part: we do the work for you—and bring everything directly to you
Providers will receive:
· Educational curriculum and activity materials focused on seasonal Kansas crops
· Hands-on lessons that encourage children to explore fruits and vegetables through taste, touch, and cooking activities
· Locally grown fruits and vegetables for meals and learning activities. The growing seasons are summer (June-August), fall (September-November), winter (December-February), and spring (March-May). The corresponding crops with lessons are melons (summer), apples (fall), squash (winter), and leafy greens (spring).
The program is intended for licensed early childcare providers caring for children ages 6 months to 5 years. It’s a great way to introduce children to healthy eating habits while supporting Kansas farmers and producers.
Submit this form by April 17th to participate.
