Hi Plains Feed Expands to Meet Growing Demand Across the High Plains
Hi Plains Feed, LLC, a local feed manufacturing company with a plant in the Dodge City area, recently completed a facility expansion to better serve its loyal customer base across southwest Kansas and the greater High Plains region. The expansion reflects the company’s steady growth and continued commitment to delivering high-quality feed products for beef and dairy producers.
Founded in 2007, Hi Plains Feed specializes in manufacturing customized feed supplements. Their most profitable products include specialty feedyard supplements designed to meet the nutritional needs of large-scale operations. With customers in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, and the Texas Panhandle—most within a 150-mile radius—the company prides itself on service, integrity, and consistent quality. According to General Manager Andy Linscott, “Almost all of our customers are repeat clients. We’ve built trust over time through personalized service and reliability.”
Hi Plains Feed recently added another full-time employee, bringing the total workforce at its Dodge City location to 16. While the company is not actively hiring at this time, it continues to train employees in-house, focusing on soft skills, work ethic, and job-specific training such as mixer operation, maintenance, and bulk delivery logistics.
The company’s expansion allows them to meet growing requests from the field without compromising on quality or efficiency.
Infrastructure remains a concern, especially road conditions leading to their site. Linscott noted the need for improved pavement and turning lanes to support truck traffic. Broadband access, housing affordability, childcare availability, and local healthcare services were also listed as quality-of-life factors impacting workforce recruitment and retention.
Hi Plains Feed identified water, infrastructure, and workforce as their top concerns for the future of agriculture. However, they remain optimistic—pointing to emerging trends in feed efficiency, sustainable practices, and the importance of export markets for beef.
The company’s recent expansion is a testament to their adaptability and strong ties to the regional economy. With a loyal customer base and deep industry knowledge, Hi Plains Feed continues to play a vital role in supporting western Kansas’ agricultural backbone.
