Volunteering Makes a Community Great

Hugo and I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Hilmar Cheese Public Cheeseburger Feed during Dodge City Days. It was a fun morning serving our community, but it was also a great reminder of what truly makes Dodge City special: its people.

Community events like the Hilmar Cheese Public Cheeseburger Feed don’t happen without volunteers. Behind every successful event are individuals who are willing to give a few hours of their time to serve food, greet guests, help with setup and cleanup, or simply lend a helping hand. Their generosity creates experiences that bring our community together.

Volunteering is about more than helping at an event. It’s about building relationships, meeting new people, and investing in the place we call home. Whether you volunteer with a nonprofit, coach a youth team, serve on a board, or help at a community event, your time makes a difference.

If you want your community to be great, you have to be involved and make a difference.  I truly believe that great communities don’t happen by chance. They are built by people who care enough to step forward, volunteer, and invest in making their hometown a better place.

If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved, consider volunteering. You don’t have to commit a lot of time to make a big impact. Every act of service, large or small, helps make Dodge City an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
